It is well established that regular exercise is healthy. But how much exercise do you could reap the health advantages? Even a little bit activity — each at home and at work — can lower your risk of being hospitalized, a long-term observational study published May 6, 2020, suggests. BMC Geriatrics. Researchers analyzed the self-reported workplace and leisure activities of 25,000 men and ladies aged 40 to 79 over a 20-year period. During the primary 10 years of the study, those that were energetic were 25 percent less prone to be hospitalized for greater than 20 days a 12 months, in comparison with those that were inactive. Over the second 10 years of the study, those that remained energetic or became energetic — even just a little bit — were 34 percent less prone to be hospitalized for greater than 20 days every year. In addition, those that were inactive or became inactive in the course of the study had the best risk of hospitalization. The take-home message: Be as energetic as you may, whether it's a brisk walk or doing chores most days of the week. Even a little bit activity can protect your health.
