Can I still run after hip alternative?

Question I used to be an energetic runner before my hip alternative. Is it OK to return to jogging several times every week?

Oh Hip alternative helps relieve pain and improve function for individuals with hip fractures. However, alternative joints may wear out over time and require revision surgery. Therefore, activities that will increase stress or wear on the joints are sometimes discouraged.

Yet, clinical evidence on this topic is surprisingly sparse. For example, one study followed greater than 600 individuals who had hip replacements for a median of 5 years, but only 23 ran after surgery. Although not one of the runners had a worse consequence, the sample size was too small to green light exercise as a secure post-surgery exercise.

Other studies have shown an increased rate of prosthetic joint wear and a better rate of revision surgery in individuals who performed high-impact activities, including running.

The exact level of activity after hip alternative relies on the person and is best discussed along with your doctor. You can also want to think about other varieties of exercise as an alternative of running, reminiscent of cycling or swimming, which put less weight and stress on the hips.
